TEMPLE TERRACE - Members and guests of several groups are getting together for holiday parties, often collecting gifts for those in need. Events include:
•The potluck holiday luncheon sponsored by the Tampa Palms Women's Club.
The event will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Compton Park, 16103 Compton Drive. The meeting includes the presentation of checks to representatives of local charities.
Members and guests also will bring gifts for children at Tampa Palms and Chiles elementary schools. Past presidents of the club will be recognized in celebration of the group's 20th anniversary. For details, call (813) 978-0503.
•The Merry Sherry Party sponsored by the American Cancer Society's Sword of Hope volunteer group. The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the home of Regan and Alina Haines.

•The University of South Florida's Women's Club holiday party. It will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at the home of Betty and Sam Garrett, 12204 Wood Duck Place.

•The Temple Terrace Garden Club's annual Christmas luncheon. Open to the public, the event will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club, 200 Inverness Ave.

Women's Club Honors Summers
HUNTER'S GREEN - Stacy Summers, who recently won the Deserving Woman award, will be recognized at the Dec. 13 meeting of North East Tampa Women in Business.
The dinner meeting will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Hunter's Green Golf & Country Club, 18101 Longwater Run Drive.

DeBartolo Family Awards Donation
THONOTOSASSA - Trauma Resolution and Victims' Essential Recovery Services, a therapeutic horsemanship program, recently received a $10,000 donation.
The donation, along with a Spirit of Humanity award, was presented by the DeBartolo Family Foundation.
The Thonotosassa-based organization encourages at-risk children to participate in group therapy and riding instructions.
Jingle Bells All The Way
SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, a 5-kilometer competitive run, a 1-mile fitness walk and Santa Chase for children 12 and younger, is planned for Wednesday.
The events will be at Lowry Park Zoo, 1101 W. Sligh Ave., and benefit the Arthritis Foundation. Registration is at 6 p.m., with the runs and walks beginning at 7 p.m.
Participants wear jingle bells on their shoes as they run or walk. Some dress in holiday attire or costumes. The event also includes an after-race party with food, music and beverages.
The registration is $25 for the 5-kilometer and 1-mile events. Students get a $5 discount. The Santa Chase costs $10. To register, visit www .arthritis.org or call (813) 968-7000.
Prodigy Holding Winter Showcase
UNIVERSITY AREA - The Prodigy Cultural Arts Program at the University Area Community Center will hold its Winter Showcase on Dec. 8.
Prodigy is a juvenile justice program that uses participation in the arts as a diversionary method to curb juvenile crime and to develop self-esteem. It is funded by a grant and administered by the University Area Community Development Corp.
The showcase, at the center, 14013 N. 22nd St., includes a gallery exhibition at 10 a.m., stage performance at noon and a VIP luncheon at 2 p.m.

TAMPA PALMS - Lon Lynn, a physician, will talk about Extending Medical Service to Treasure Beach, Jamaica at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.
The 7 a.m. meeting will be at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
