TAMPA – The University of South Florida Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its four 2008 alumni awards recognizing outstanding contributions to the university and community.
Nominations will be accepted until Jan. 31 for the Distinguished Alumnus Award, Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service Award, Outstanding Young Alumnus Award and Class of '56 Award.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented annually to an alumnus who has distinguished himself or herself in his or her profession and rendered outstanding service to the university and Tampa Bay area.
The Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service Award will be awarded to a graduate who has spent much time and energy making USF an outstanding university.
The Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recognizes an alumnus age 35 or younger who has provided outstanding service to USF and demonstrated strong potential to have a successful professional career.
While three awards will go to USF graduates, the fourth will not. The alumni association will bestow its Class of '56 Award to a living non-USF graduate who has shown commitment and outstanding service to USF and the local community.
If you know of an alumnus or local resident whose achievements should be recognized, call the USF Alumni Association at (813) 974-1335 or 800-299-2855. Nomination forms also are available online at www.USFalumni.org. Click "Alumni Awards" under "Quick Links." The forms will list the specific qualifications for each award.
The selection committee will consider all descriptions of the candidates' accomplishments and supporting materials.
The USF Alumni Association has recognized outstanding alumni and community leaders since 1976.
