NORTH TAMPA - NORTH TAMPA - A free family event to distribute bicycles, boxes of food and clothes is planned by Kingdom Worship Center.
The event, A Spectacular Christmas, will be Saturday at Copeland Park on North 15th Street.
"We hope to give away 1,000 bicycles – one per family," said the Rev. Robert Fruster, who co-pastors the 14-month-old church with his wife, Brenda.
This is the second year for the Christmas celebration. The church, which meets at Embassy Suites on the University of South Florida campus, was founded to serve many needs, the Frusters said.
"We had lines last year, but no one left without something," said the Rev. Brenda Fruster.
Robert Fruster said the church has partnered with private businesses and radio stations for the event.
"We know the church can't do it by itself. We feel we can build a teamwork of private, public and the religious," Robert Fruster said.
The event also will include social service providers and games for children.
Many church volunteers will work at the event, the Frusters said. "They love serving," Robert Fruster said.
