TEMPLE TERRACE - A sewer main break on Harney Road may cause traffic headaches today, but the road should be reopened by Saturday.
To avoid Harney Road, commuters should consider finding another route, Temple Terrace city spokesman Michael Dunn said in a prepared statement.
He suggested motorists take U.S. 301 to Sligh Avenue or Temple Terrace Highway to North 56th Street. Signs set up on southbound Harney Road are detouring commuters to 78th Street.
A 16-inch sewer main burst Thursday morning south of Renald Boulevard, city officials said.
Workers from the Temple Terrace Public Works Department and CSC Engineering and Construction repaired the pipe today, the statement said. However, it will take the rest of the day to repair the road and reopen it.
The break, which was caused by corroded pipes, did not disrupt service to residential and business customers, according to the statement.
