HUNTER'S GREEN - The Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure recently recognized members of the Hunter's Green Golf & Country Club for their contributions.
The women have staged golf tournaments and other events for nine years to raise money for breast cancer awareness and education.
Ann Hull, who is chairwoman of the country club's board of governors, accepted an award from Komen representative Shannon Dawson at a luncheon Oct. 25 at the country club.
Dawson, a Tampa Palms resident, said, "We like to recognize their leadership."
Hull, a former Hunter's Green resident who lives in Land O' Lakes, said the women began with a small golf tournament and expanded the fundraising to a weekend event with a fashion show luncheon, gala and auction, and the tournament.
She said it takes about six months to organize the event.
"I am very passionate about the cause," she said, adding that someone in her family has had breast cancer.
In nine years, the Hunter's Green golfers have donated about $110,000.
