TEMPLE TERRACE - Tampa's first kolache business has opened its second store in the Landmark shopping center.
Owners Jungmin Kwak and Yunah Kim learned to bake the eastern European treats while living in the Houston area. The slightly sweet breads gained popularity in Texas when bakers started filling them with barbecue beef, jalapenos and sausages.
They opened KDbox in New Tampa in April. Their second location, 8892 N. 56th St., opened on Halloween.
"We're trying some new things with the Temple Terrace store," Kim said. "We're going to be selling sandwiches made with kolache bread, and we're staying open later."
As part of the grand opening, KDbox will offer buy-one-get-one-free for any purchase, whether it's one doughnut or a dozen kolaches. The promotion ends Nov. 13.
