TAMPA PALMS - A former city of Tampa employee has been hired as the Tampa Palms Owners Association community director.
Jo Ann Conrad began her new duties last month.
"She has a tremendous amount of management experience," TPOA President Bill Edwards said of Conrad, who will work with residents, facilitate maintenance at parks and other property owned and operated by the association and help coordinate enhancements. "We're very glad to have her. She's making a really great impression."
Along with the Tampa Palms Community Development District, the TPOA is a partner in Visioning 2011, a renovation and enhancement project for the community developed in 1986.
"There's so much going on, we felt it was time" to reinstate the position vacant for seven or eight years, Edwards said.
Conrad, whose duties include obtaining competitive bids for projects being considered by the TPOA board, shares the association's Compton Park office with property manager Bonnie French.
Conrad spent four years with the city's Neighborhood and Community Relations Office, where her duties included serving as executive aide to the agency's director, Shannon Edge. Before that, she was small-business manager for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, a post she held for 3 1/2 years.
"I'm enjoying the job. It keeps me hopping; there's a lot going on here," said Conrad, a Brandon resident. "My main goal is to make sure the facilities are running smoothly and that residents are happy with what we have to offer."
She added, "There are some things that need to be spruced-up and changed," with more improvements planned as Visioning 2011 gets into full swing.
