TEMPLE TERRACE - Two Relays for Life hold kickoff meetings next week to prepare for the springtime fundraisers for the American Cancer Society.
The 2008 national theme is Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back!
During the relays, teams walk a track to raise money for cancer research and education, a candlelight ceremony honors those who have had cancer, and activities for family members are planned.
The Temple Terrace kickoff will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave. It will feature food and door prizes
The Temple Terrace Relay for Life will be April 18 and 19 at Greco Middle School, 6925 E. Fowler Ave. The local theme will be Game On ... Teaming Up for a Cure. Mel Jurado is the committee chairwoman. The committee members are Diane Reeger, Anita Long, Kelly Hickman, Suzanne Knapp, Shelly Hollingsworth, David Long, Jason Carter, Gina Yacone, Tim McDonald, Joyce Johnston, Jamie Klingman and American Cancer Society representative Cheryl Hedrick.

The New Tampa Relay for Life kickoff will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
Survivors will speak, as will participants who have had successful fundraising ideas.
Registration to participate in the New Tampa event, set for April 18 and 19 at Freedom High School, 17410 Commerce Blvd., is $100 by Dec. 31. Starting Jan. 1, it will be $125.

Women's Club To Set Goals
USF CAMPUS - The University of South Florida Women's Club will hold a general membership meeting Monday to review its constitution and set long-term goals.

Holiday Festival Planned For Dec. 1
PEBBLE CREEK - The first Pebble Creek Holiday Festival will include food vendors, a craft show, door prizes, visits with Santa and children's cooking classes.
The event, open to the public, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Pebble Creek Community Center, 18715 Bent Tree Lane. For details, call (813) 758-7463.
Republican Club Meets Tuesday
NORTH TAMPA - Local and state leaders of the Republican Party will talk about current issues at Tuesday's meeting of the Republican Club of Greater Temple Terrace.
The meeting will be at the Blaise F. Alfano Conference Center & Banquet Facility, 11606 McKinley Drive. Registration is at 5:45 p.m., and the dinner meeting is at 6:15 p.m.

Club Donates Bears To Fire Department
TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace Junior Woman's Club recently donated blue teddy bears to the Temple Terrace Fire Department.
The donation is part of a program sponsored by the organization through which clubs make blue teddy bears for emergency personnel, state troopers and local law enforcement agencies to give to children in stress from accidents or domestic problems.

Newcomers Event Raises Money
TAMPA PALMS - About 130 members of Tampa Bay Newcomers and their guests gathered recently at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club for its annual fundraiser, All Aboard for Charity.
The event raised more than $7,000 for three nonprofit organizations: Everyday Blessings, Kids & Canines and Sunrise of Pasco County.

TAMPA PALMS - Jesse Collins, a health counselor, will talk about Stress Management at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.
