NEW TAMPA - The New Tampa Community Council elected three new directors at the organization's Business Expo.
Elected to two-year terms were Fred Burns of Arbor Greene, a teacher at Freedom High School; Scott Estes of Tampa Palms, a financial adviser; and Lesley Zajac of Pebble Creek, treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of New Tampa.
The expo was Sept. 26 at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites.
'From 35 to 60 businesses, this is the best turnout we've ever had,' said Mary Ann Yaney of Meadow Pointe, who is in the middle of her two-year term as NTCC president.
She estimated 200 to 250 people attended the two-hour event, which featured displays and giveaways by merchants, restaurants, health care providers, real estate agencies and other professionals from New Tampa and the surrounding area.
The nonprofit organization is best known for its Taste of New Tampa, a popular food festival fundraiser launched in 1994 to benefit public schools.
Re-elected to the NTCC board were Todd Weiner of Carrollwood, Regina Ramalheira of Cross Creek, Matt Palmer of Tampa Palms, James Markley of Pebble Creek and Vince Heilman of Richmond Place.
