Helping Hungry Bulls

Published: October 13, 2007

USF CAMPUS - Graduate Andrew Dundas is hoping hungry students plus convenient delivery will equal big business success.

The University of South Florida alumnus started his company Feed-a-Bull last month; it offers restaurant delivery service to the USF campus and surrounding areas.

'I always had an interest in starting my own business,' said Dundas, who majored in business. 'They had a similar service up in Gainesville near the University of Florida when I lived up there, and I thought it would be successful here.'

Here's how it works: Customers can visit feedabull.com and view menus of participating area restaurants, including Daddy Gill's, Thai Fusion and Guthrie's.

Customers select items from the menus and call Feed-a-Bull at (813) 914-0000 to place orders. The company will send a driver to pick up the food from the restaurant and deliver it to the customer's home. Delivery time takes about 45 minutes but varies depending on the restaurant.

Customers pay a slightly higher menu price, plus a $2.50 delivery charge. Dundas said it's a small price to pay for convenience.

'It's a great way for people to try new places or get food from their favorite spots without having to drive someplace and get it,' Dundas said.
Dundas said he purposely started his business slow, limiting his advertising.

'I'm still hiring drivers and perfecting the business,' he said.

Feed-a-Bull serves the USF campus and surrounding areas near participating restaurants, such as Tampa Palms.

This isn't the first restaurant delivery service to hit the market. Dine One One delivers for dozens of restaurants to areas across Hillsborough County. Dundas believes by focusing on a small area, he can offer quick service, which means a hot meal.

'I'm marketing to students who want good food brought to them,' he said.
