DOWNTOWN TAMPA - The Auxiliary of Northside Mental Health Center will present its annual celebrity fashion show and luncheon, Puttin' on the Glitz - 20 Years of Steppin' Out for Kids.
The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Tampa, Two Tampa City Center. Proceeds will benefit the PhoneFriend program, through which latchkey children can call to get homework help or to just talk.
The celebrity fashion show will feature clothes and accessories from Kit's Well-Heeled and Well-Dressed in Hyde Park. The fundraiser also includes entertainment by Belinda Womack and a live and a silent auction.
Jack Harris will be the master of ceremonies. He and Gayle Sierens will be honored for their 20 years of service to PhoneFriends.
Celebrity models include Sierens, Jennifer Closshey, Gayle Guyardo, Nerissa Prest, Stacie Schaible and Monica Culpepper. Escorts are Brad Culpepper, Dave Moore, Ron Stewart, Joe Magran, Mark Boushall and others.

Wade Boggs Hosting Tourney
ST. PETERSBURG - Tampa Palms resident Wade Boggs, a baseball Hall-of-Famer, will host the 10th annual Grand Slam Celebrity Fishing Tournament.
The event will be Nov. 9-11 at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, 501 Fifth Ave. N.E., St. Petersburg. He will be joined by celebrities and local sportsmen in 50 boats.
The tournament kickoff will be the Fisherman's Ball at Tropicana Field, One Tropicana Drive, St. Petersburg, where auction items include a week's stay at Jimmy Buffet's former estate, a Tampa Bay Lightning package and a puppy.
The weekend of events will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

American Girl Fashion Show Set
USF CAMPUS - The Temple Terrace Junior Woman's Club will host the American Girl Fashion Show in November at the Embassy Suites Tampa - USF/Busch Gardens, 3705 Spectrum Blvd.
The event will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 3 and at 1 and 4 p.m. Nov. 4. The event features food, favors and showing of fashions from the American Girl collections.

Catholic School Plans Harvest Gala
TEMPLE TERRACE - Corpus Christi Catholic School will hold its annual Autumn's Harvest Gala at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Pepin Hospitality Center, 4121 N. 50th St.
The event will include dinner, dancing to music by Rat Pack II, and a live and silent auction. Maria Hoffman and Chris Jeffords are the sponsorship committee co-chairmen.

Meeting Features Boutique's Fashions
PALMA CEIA - About 30 members of The Spring Daytime Auxiliary and guests got a look at what The Spring Vintage Boutique offers customers.
Auxiliary members modeled pants suits, evening gowns, skirts and blouses and accessories in a fashion show featuring clothes from the South Tampa store at 3418 W. Swann Ave.
Outfits, complete with jewelry, ranged from about $15 to $75. Several designer-name pieces were included in the show.
The proceeds from the store assist The Spring, a domestic violence shelter.
Sarah Coates served as the show narrator. Mary Nipper and Maggie Boree assisted with organizing the salad-and-sandwich luncheon.
Kendal Mitchell, a Hunter's Green resident, is president of the organization. She said the purpose of the group 'is twofold: to earn money for The Spring and to have a good time while we do it.'
She said the auxiliary provides volunteers for working in the store and assists with other fundraising events.
The auxiliary meets at noon the third Tuesday of each month. Locations vary, including members' homes. The November meeting will be at The Spring's shelter.

Former Mayor Greco To Be Roasted
YBOR CITY - Former Tampa Mayor Dick Greco will be the subject of Toast and Roast the Honorable Dick Greco, a fundraiser for the preservation of the Italian Club.
The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Italian Club, 1731 E. Seventh Ave.
Jack Harris will be the master of ceremonies. Roasters are Jack Espinosa Sr., Daniel Ruth and Rick Nafe.
Hillsborough County Tax Appraiser Rob Turner is assisting in organizing the event.
Reserved seats are $200, $350 and $500 each. Sponsorships range from $2,000 to $5,000.

Begonia Society Meets Oct. 27
TAMPA - A program about propagating cane begonias will be presented at the Oct. 27 meeting of the Begonia Society of Tampa Bay.
The meeting, open to the public free of charge, will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Famous Tate Distribution Center, 6410 N. 54th St.
