Terrace Community Accepting Applications

TEMPLE TERRACE - TEMPLE TERRACE - This school year may be just weeks old, but Terrace Community Middle wants families to start thinking about next school year.

The charter middle school at 11734 Jefferson Road is accepting applications for the 2008-09 school until Jan. 14. As of now, the school is expected to have 124 openings in the sixth grade. School leaders don't know how many openings will be available in the seventh and eighth grades.

The school has already received more than 100 applications for next school year. But that shouldn't discourage families from applying, said Helen Ratcliffe, director for the school's Office of Student and Personnel Services.

If the school receives more applications than available positions, all names will be put into a lottery. Only siblings and children of board members are guaranteed spots at the school.
