TEMPLE TERRACE - The Friends of Temple Terrace Parks and Recreation will hold its annual planning session 7 p.m. Thursday at the Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, 5030 E. Busch Blvd.
The event is open to the public free of charge. The organization, which assists the city's parks and recreation department with its programs, will outline its plans for the 2008-09 club year.
The group's current project is raising money for the reconstruction of the Bat Tower.

Club Sponsors Fashions, Tea
UNIVERSITY AREA - The Tampa Woman's Club will sponsor a Fashion Show and Tea to benefit LifePath Hospice from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 14 at the University Village retirement center, 12401 N 22nd St.
Free transportation will be provided by University Village, leaving the Woman's Club, 2901 Bayshore Blvd., at 1:15 p.m.
The event is open to the public, and the minimum requested donation is $10.

Assisted Living Topic For Meeting
HUNTER'S GREEN - Jenny Bellows, the administrator of Central Tampa Assisted Living, will speak at the Aug. 14 meeting of the North East Tampa Women in Business.
She will speak about the care that is needed when dementia and Alzheimer's is a factor at the 6 p.m. meeting at the Hunter's Green Golf Club, 18101 Longwater Run Drive.

North Tampa Chamber Meets Aug. 14
NORTH TAMPA - The North Tampa Chamber of Commerce will hold its general meeting Aug. 14 at Comfort Inn, 820 E. Busch Blvd.
Registration opens at 11 a.m., with networking continuing until 11:45 a.m. The fee is $15 through Tuesday and $20 at the door.

Skipper's To Host Fishing School NORTH TAMPA - Skipper's Smokehouse will host an inshore fishing school, taught by Fred Everson, a local captain and fishing guide.
The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at Skipper's, 910 Skipper Road.
It will include information on species, casting, artificial baits and fishing equipment. The cost is $25 per person and includes a copy of Everson's book, "Fish the Flats."

Candidates Forum At Joint Meeting
DOWNTOWN TAMPA - The Tiger Bay Club of Tampa and League of Women Voters Hillsborough County will co-sponsor a forum featuring candidates in the Hillsborough County primary elections.
The luncheon will be Aug. 15 at Maestro's at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 W.C. MacInnes Place. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., and the lunch is at noon.
Candidates for the board of county commissioners, school board and tax appraiser's office have confirmed their participation.

Blizzard Sales Benefit Children
TAMPA - All Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill locations will participate in Miracle Treat Day on Thursday and donate all proceeds from Blizzard sales to the Children's Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for children's hospitals.
Miss America 2008 Kristen Haglund is the honorary spokeswoman for Miracle Treat Day.
Rotary Club Plans Programs, Objectives
TAMPA PALMS - Members of the Rotary Club of New Tampa will plan the club's programs and objectives for the 2008-09 Rotary year during a club assembly meeting 7 a.m. Friday at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
