TAMPA PALMS - The community's Visioning 2011 plan is becoming a reality as district supervisors award contracts for new entrance signs.
Tampa Palms' blue-tile logos soon will be a thing of the past, replaced with sleek black granite. The community development district board has hired two contractors, CRS Building of Safety Harbor and Tampa-based Site Essentials, to start work in September on the new signs.
Total cost for the project is $1.03 million.
The board also contracted with Hardeman Kempton, the design firm that has assisted each step of the process, to begin work on improvements to Amberly Park. Hardeman Kempton designed improvements that are under way in Tampa Palms' Hampton Park.
Work on the pavilion is complete, but the district is awaiting permits from the Department of Environmental Protection before it can begin installing a new playground surface and play equipment.
Supervisor Randy Marlowe said Amberly Park will have a different feel than Hampton Park, which includes basketball and tennis courts. It will have more open space and paved walking trails.
