The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has issued the call for applications from students for its Student Leaders Award. The overall program recognizes and rewards organizations, individuals and students in 45 cities across the country that have shown a commitment to improving their communities.
The foundation will recognize five exemplary high school juniors or seniors in each market who have demonstrated a commitment to community service and leadership. Tampa is one of the eligible markets. The selected students will participate in a paid eight-week summer internship with a community-based organization and, as part of the award, will travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in a weeklong leadership summit. Each student is asked to include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other community leader with his or her application.
Award recipients are chosen by local selection committees composed of private, public and nonprofit sector leaders and chaired by local Bank of America executives.
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is accepting applications for the award at www.bankofamerica.com/neighborhoodexcellence. Bank of America invites high school juniors or seniors who have shown an active interest in improving their community to submit an application. The deadline for submissions for the Student Leaders Award is Feb. 29.
