Woman's Club Planning Luncheon, Boutique

TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace Woman's Club will present its 14th annual Spring Boutique & Luncheon from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 7.

The event will be at the Dr. Blaise F. Alfano Conference and Banquet Center, 11606 McKinley Drive, and include shopping at boutiques with jewelry, clothing, gourmet foods, collectibles, cosmetics, toys and other items.

The proceeds are for the club's Children's Fund, to assist with needs at local public schools. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance.

Girls Hold PJ Party At Community Center

UNIVERSITY AREA - Girls from the Girls Circle program, sponsored by the Hillsborough County's Parks, Recreation & Conservation Department, donned pajamas for the group's pajama party Feb. 7.

The girls participate in the program at the University Area Community Park, site of the party. At the party, they danced, played games, ate pizza, watched a movie and participated in a rehearsal for a fashion show set for April 18.

Laverne Hardy, who coordinates the park's Girls Circle group for ages 9 and older, said the circle gives the girls a chance to talk about their feelings and issues, as well as an opportunity to go on trips and have special activities.

"The pajama party was their idea. It is something they wanted to do," Hardy said.

Soloist Featured At Florida College

TEMPLE TERRACE - Teresa Walters, a recitalist and orchestral soloist, will perform in concert as part of the Florida College Life Enrichment Series.

The event will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the college's Puckett Auditorium, 119 N. Glen Arven Ave.

Northside Auxiliary Officers Installed

NORTH TAMPA - Officers and directors of the Auxiliary of Northside Mental Health Center were installed recently by Cynthia Aprile, president of the center's board of directors.

The officers are Sylvia Traina, president; Chris Ruane, first vice president; Vibeke Peterson, treasurer; Jo Ivey, corresponding secretary; and Geri Aceto, recording secretary.

The directors are Doris Pearce, membership; Sylvia D'Aloia and Joyce Meitin, fundraising; Tanya Smith, member relations; and Ann Simmons, member-at-large.

The auxiliary partially funds the PhoneFriend program, makes Easter baskets for children and donates Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for adults. This year, the group donated $25,000 to the PhoneFriend program from the proceeds of its "Puttin' on the Glitz" fashion show.

Werner To Receive Rank Of Eagle

TEMPLE TERRACE - Kyle R. Werner, son of Bruce and Lynn Werner of Temple Terrace, will receive his rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor Sunday at the Woodmont Clubhouse.

Werner, 18, earned his rank through Troop 120 at Florida College. For his public service project, he constructed and installed new signage at Bonnie Brae Park. He also landscaped the area around the sign.

He is a senior at King High School.

Gala Features Johnny G. Lyons

NORTH TAMPA - Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran School will hold its annual Winter Gala from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Feb. 29 at the Dr. Blaise F. Alfano Conference and Banquet Center, 11606 McKinley Drive.

The gala will include dinner, dancing to the music of the Johnny G. Lyons Band and a silent auction.

Begonia Society Meets Feb. 23

NORTH TAMPA - The Begonia Society of Tampa Bay will meet at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Famous Tate Distribution Center, 6401 N. 54th St.

The program will focus on cover leaf propagation. The event is open to the public free, and first-time visitors receive a begonia.

The club will have its second Begonia Show and Sale as part of the Temple Terrace Garden Club's Spring Market on March 15 in the Woodmont Clubhouse in Temple Terrace.

Rotary's Work In Costa Rica Is Topic

TAMPA PALMS - Paul V. Suppicich, Rotary District 6890 world community service director, will speak at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.

He will talk about the district's program in Costa Rica at 7 a.m. at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
