NEW TAMPA - There is good news for drivers on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard: A new flyover making it easier to get onto Interstate 75 will open Friday, July 18, five months ahead of schedule.
Florida Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kris Carson said the ramp would be open for Friday morning's rush hour.
The $39 million project allows southbound drivers on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard access to southbound I-75 without waiting for a turn signal.
The current intersection still needs to be reconfigured and the merge lane on I-75 must be extended, but the contractor will earn a $1 million bonus if it completes everything by October, Carson said.
