Weather Again Delays Opening Of Flyover Ramp

NEW TAMPA - Heavy rainfall again has delayed the scheduled opening of the new flyover entrance ramp at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Interstate 75.
Florida Department of Transportation spokesman John McShaffrey said the ramp will open sometime next week. The FDOT had hoped to open the $39 million ramp Thursday, July 17. The department has deactivated the flashing signs announcing the opening date.
"At this point, we're going to wait until we finish all the paving before we put the signs back up," McShaffrey said.
The project still is opening months ahead of schedule.
