NORTH TAMPA - The Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce will hold the New Teacher Breakfast to welcome teachers at public and private schools to the Temple Terrace area.
The breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 15 at the Dr. Blaise F. Alfano Conference and Banquet Center, 11606 N. McKinley Drive.
More than 200 teachers are expected to attend the event, which is a way to acquaint the teachers with the Temple Terrace community and to involve businesses in the education of children.
Businesses and individuals are needed to sponsor teachers at the breakfast. The sponsorship fee is $15 per teacher or $150 per table (with one seat available for the sponsor, if desired).
Door prizes also are needed.

Big Game Banquet Supports Elk Foundation
WEST TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will hold its annual Big Game Banquet on Aug. 9 at the Tampa Letter Carriers Hall, 3003 W. Cypress St.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the fundraiser, which includes dinner, music by the Wirebeaters Bluegrass Band, a silent and live auction and assorted prizes.

Sunset Stroll Benefits Moffitt
CHANNEL DISTRICT - The Sarcoma Sunset Stroll, a one-mile walk to raise awareness of sarcoma, is scheduled for Friday.
The walk starts at Stumps Supper Club, 615 Channelside Drive. Registration is at 6 p.m., and the walk begins at 6:30 p.m. The $20 entry fee will benefit the sarcoma program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.

Tech Jam 2008 Set For Forum
CHANNEL DISTRICT - The Tampa Bay Tech Forum Foundation will sponsor Tech Jam 2008, A Summer Party With a Purpose, a live music event with Ken Block and Drew Copeland of the band Sister Hazel.
It also will include food, dancing and a silent auction.
The event will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 7 at the St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive.
Tickets are $45 if purchased by Aug. 6 and $50 the day of the show.

Elections Supervisor To Address Rotary
TAMPA PALMS - Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Buddy Johnson will speak at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.
Johnson will talk about "Voting Machines in Hillsborough County" at the 7 a.m. meeting at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
The club is for professional and business leaders who live, work or are retired in the New Tampa area.
