LIVE OAK PRESERVE - The Live Oak 1 Community Development District took another step toward homeowner control this month, when its board of supervisors appointed resident Scott Keen to fill the seat left vacant by former Engle Homes executive Joe Hennessey.
Engle executives, who control the CDD boards for Live Oak 2 and The Hammocks, had planned to keep the Live Oak 1 seat open until after the November election. Mike Ceparano, the only other resident serving on the Live Oak 1 board of supervisors, pressed the board to appoint Keen, who had applied for several openings over the past year.
"I'm not sure why we wait and wait and wait," he argued.
In other business, the Live Oak 1 CDD board decided to begin the process for refinancing its bond debt. Now that the community is built out, its board likely will pay a lower interest rate, saving residents about 10 percent a year on their CDD assessments.
