TAMPA PALMS - The community development district will have plenty of choices when board supervisors award the contract Aug. 6 for new entrance signs on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and at many of the villages.
Four Tampa area contractors submitted bids: Cairns Construction, Red Brookshire, Apollo Construction and Site Essentials.
Also submitting bids were Cornerstone Hardscapes of Dade City, St. Petersburg-based HIS Cabinetry and CRS Building of Safety Harbor.
Board consultant Maggie Wilson said the bid packages ranged in price from $1.02 million to $1.4 million. The project is divided into three elements – masonry, granite and lighting – and could be awarded to multiple contractors.
"This is a real tribute to our architect, Jason Rinard, who told us it would probably cost about $1.1 million," Wilson said.
The CDD board has accounted for the project in its proposed 2009 budget, which comes up for a vote Aug. 13.
