Tampa - Tampa - The Hillsborough County School District will sponsor the Summer Food Service Program June 23 through July 25 at schools with extended school year programs, and June 9 through August 8 at schools offering other programs.
The program is similar to the National School Lunch Program. It provides nutritionally balanced meals to needy children when school breakfast and lunches are not available. All children 18 years old and younger, both enrolled in summer school and non-enrolled, are eligible at no charge.
Breakfast is served 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and lunch from 10 a.m. to noon. Parents or guardians should call individual schools for exact dates and times meals will be offered.
The program is approved for sites that draw children from areas where at least one-half of the children qualify for free and reduced price meals. Summer meal sites located at schools must be open and provide meals to all children.
