TAMPA PALMS - The Tampa Palms Community Development District will advertise for bids June 18 for new entrance and village signs.
The community's iconic blue-and-gold signs will be replaced with modern black granite slabs and etched gold lettering. The new design should eliminate the recurring vandalism of signs at village entrances.
The signs are expected to cost about $1.5 million. Bids will be due July 23, and district supervisors expect to award the contract by August.
Work also is proceeding at Hampton Park, where the newly remodeled pavilion will open in late June. Over the next few months, workers will install a multicolored play surface and new playground equipment.
District consultant Maggie Wilson said the park also will get a new multilevel drinking fountain for residents and their dogs.
