Alzheimer's Center Rep To Speak

TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce will have its November luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 19, at the Hunter's Green Golf & Country Club.

Bonnie Goodwin, from the Johnnie B. Byrd Alzheimer's Research Center, will speak at the event, open to members and guests, at 18101 Longwater Drive.

Reservations are $15 and needed by Friday by calling (813) 989-7004.

The chamber also will have a New Member Networking Coffee from 8 to 9 a.m. today at Cafe Kili, 5731 E. Fowler Ave.

The chamber is seeking sponsors for its centerpieces for the Jan. 21 Ed Hanna Business of the Year luncheon.

The centerpiece can be a floral piece, gift basket, gift tote or other decorative piece that also can include advertising for the donor businesses. The sponsor fee is $50 to participate

The centerpieces will be given to guests, and each participant receives a free ticket to the dinner. For information, call the chamber at (813) 989-7004.

Multicultural Fair Needs Donations

The King High School ELL (English Language Learners) and various school clubs are planning a multicultural fair for Nov. 25 at the school, 6815 N. 56th St.

Club members will represent various countries, showcasing a specific country's crafts, food, music and culture.

The organizers need prizes and donations such as gift cards, vouchers for food, merchandise and entertainment.

Club Has Annual Holiday Plant Sale

The Temple Terrace Garden Club is celebrating its 38th year of selling poinsettias, with proceeds benefiting its ongoing beautification programs and youth activities.

The sale continues through Monday with poinsettias selling for $7.50 for one to 12 plants; orders of 13 or more are $7. Christmas cactus plants are $8 each.

All plants must be pre-paid, and orders picked up between 9 and 11 a.m. Dec. 2 at Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave. Delivery is available for orders of 13 or more plants.

2007 Freedom Graduate Completes Basic Training

TAMPA PALMS - Air Force Airman Robert L. Lugo has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Lugo, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Lugo, is a 2007 graduate of Freedom High School.

During six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
