TEMPLE TERRACE - Christina Nelson is always positive.
That's how Pam Hadesty describes the friend she has known for more than five years.
"She is always smiling; I've never seen her down," said Hadesty of New Port Richey who has come to know Nelson well through their association in a church ministry.
Nelson, who recently was married and has moved from Tarpon Springs to Temple Terrace, is using her attributes to help other women achieve happiness.
Nelson, a self-proclaimed "happiness coach," will host a free Women Inspiring Women program on Wednesday evenings beginning Nov. 19.
"It is my quest to teach people that they can teach themselves to be happy 24/7 and use that positive energy to make their dreams come true, no matter what is happening in their lives or the economy," said Nelson, who likes to say she was taught by top-notch authors with doctorate degrees through her years of reading, doing surveys and attending seminars on the subject.
Dave Doerges, who got to know Nelson through their interaction in Networking International, said she is well qualified to help others.
"She really knows what she's talking about and she is very professional," he said.
Nelson, by way of an uplifting environment and different format each week, will show women how to draw forth their inner beauty and buried talents to achieve personal prosperity. She also will demonstrate how to turn stress into peace and joy.
An unwed mother at age 18, Nelson, now 57, went through bad relationships with men that inspired her to look closely at ways to build her self-esteem and find happiness.
"I have three passions: spirituality, relationships and personal development," said Nelson, also the author of a self-help book titled "Dating Differently."
Cultivating those areas of her life, she said, has created the joyful person she is today.
"I began to realize that I have control over all of my thoughts and that's the key to happiness," Nelson said. "The only way to change is to change you."
