New Tampa Board Expands

NEW TAMPA - The New Tampa Community Council Board of Directors has expanded to 14 members with Seema Jain and William Malone appointed recently.

The board also chose officers and chairmen for the 2008-09 year. They are Jerry Miller, president; Scott Estes, vice president; Matt Palmer, treasurer; Rachel Haviland, secretary; Mary Ann Yaney, special events sponsorships; James Markley, special events production; Regina Ramalheira, special events volunteers; and Fred Burns, parliamentarian.

The group's next activity is a NTCC Connections Social, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Stonewood Grill & Tavern, 17050 Palm Pointe Drive.

Woman's Club Offers Rides To Early Voting

TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace Woman's Club will provide a ride to the Temple Terrace Library for early voting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 for anyone who does not have transportation.

A member of the club will drive those voters and return them home. Requests for transportation must be made by noon Oct. 29. For reservations, call (813) 988-6794.

Party Celebrates Launch of WUSF-Kids

USF CAMPUS - WUSF-TV will offer a free party for children and families as a celebration of the launch of the new children's channel, WUSF-Kids.

The event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the TV station on the USF Campus, 4202 E. Fowler Ave. It will include a meet-and-greet with Maya and Miguel from PBS. WUSF-Kids airs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and offers familiar PBS favorites as well as new and unique shows by American Public Television. WUSF-Kids is over-the-air on Channel 16.2, on Bright House Networks Channel 617; and on Verizon FiOS Channel 473.

Aquarium Sponsoring Halloween Events
CHANNEL DISTRICT - The Florida Aquarium will have two Halloween events this month.

From 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, it will host Guppyween, a family-friendly event with activities and candy stations.

Children ages 11 and younger in costume get in free when accompanied by an adult, whose admission is $12. There is a limit of four children per paying adult.

From 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 31 is the 11th annual Nauti-Night, a costume party for ages 21 and older. It includes food, beer, wine and music. Tickets are $45 for Florida Aquarium members, $50 for the public advance through Oct. 30; and $60 at the door.

Friendship Club Hosts Fashion Show

TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace Friendship Club will have its annual Fall Fashion Show and Luncheon on Nov. 11 at the Temple Terrace Country Club, 200 Inverness Ave.

Fashions are by "Accessories and More." The event is open to the public with doors opening at 10 a.m. for shopping and the fashion show and luncheon at 11 a.m.
