Tampa Palms Women's Club Welcomes Potential Members

TAMPA PALMS - The Tampa Palms Women's Club will hold its New Member Brunch to welcome new members and give potential members a look at the club and its activities.

The free event, open to residents of Tampa Palms Areas 1 through 4, will be 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at he home of Kay Conaway, 17201 Emerald Chase Drive.

The 21-year-old organization meets monthly, goes on day trips and participates in other activities. It also raises money for local charities through its Arts and Crafts Under the Palms event and a luncheon with a fashion show.

Exhibitor and vendor registration is under way for the arts and crafts show, which will be Oct. 18 and 19 at City Plaza.

USF Women Host Scholarship Luncheon
USF CAMPUS - The University of South Florida Women's Club will host its annual scholarship lunch recognizing the recipients of the Grace Allen Scholarship.

The event, open to members and guests, will be Monday in Traditions Hall of the Sam & Martha Gibbons Alumni Center at USF, 4202 E. Fowler Ave. Registration and sign-up for club interest groups begin at 11 a.m., and the luncheon is at noon.

The event also features speaker Linda Whiteford, the university's associate vice president for academic affairs and strategic initiatives.

Vendors Sought For Park Event

TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace Garden Club is seeking exhibitors and vendors for its fourth annual Sunday in the Park, set for noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 in Woodmont Park, 415 Woodmont Ave.

The event will focus on environmental education and gardening. Vendors also will be selling crafts, gifts, jewelry, ceramics, pottery and holiday items.

Entertainment, games, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus are planned. Proceeds will benefit the Sincerely, Santa program.

African Violets On Display, For Sale

USF CAMPUS - The Tampa African Violet Society and the Tampa Bay Gesneriad Society will host the African Violet and Gesneriad Celebration, with displays, demonstrations and plants for sale.

The free event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the University of South Florida Botanical Gardens, 12210 USF Pine Drive.

Sword Of Hope Sets Membership Coffee

TAMPA - The annual membership coffee of the American Cancer Society's Sword of Hope Guild will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the home of Lydia Oliva.

Co-chairwomen for the coffee are Jean Meyer and Gina Roth. Hostesses for the event are Vivian Felicione and Gerry Ostroff.

Candidates Featured At Tiger Bay Club

DOWNTOWN TAMPA - Candidates for county tax collector, supervisor of elections and property appraiser will address members and guests of the Tiger Bay Club of Tampa on Sept. 19.

The luncheon meeting will be at Maestro's at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N. MacInnes Place. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., and lunch is at noon.

Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for guests. Reservations are required by Tuesday by calling (813) 741-0004.

Kinship Center Topic At Rotary

Anne Strozier, executive director of the Florida Kinship Center, will speak at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.

Strozier will speak about the organization's assistance to families caring for relatives' children at the 7 a.m. meeting at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.

The club is for professional and business leaders who live, work or are retired in the New Tampa area.
