TEMPLE TERRACE - The Temple Terrace City Council will hold a workshop to discuss which steps to take next regarding its oft-delayed downtown redevelopment project.
The decision to hold a workshop, made during a special council meeting Friday morning, was in response to the project's master developer terminating its deal Monday to purchase 20.36 acres from the city for $14.9 million. The development partnership of Ram Development Co. and Pinnacle Realty Advisors was expected to transform the two blighted shopping centers southeast of Bullard Parkway and 56th Street into a town center consisting of retail, residential, office, restaurant and cultural elements.
On Sept. 3, the city granted Ram/Pinnacle an extension until June to meet the terms of the deal. Among other things, the developer had been unable to sign on the second of two new anchor tenants. A Ram/Pinnacle spokesman said the developer terminated the deal in the hopes of negotiating a new agreement.
The workshop date has not been set.
