DOWNTOWN TAMPA - About 100 students from Shaw Elementary participated in the Passport to Safety event Sept. 10 at the St. Pete Times Forum as a kickoff to the Kids Are Heroes program.
The students rotated through stations featuring topics such as fire, pedestrian and water safety.
The St. Joseph's Children's Hospital's Kids Are Heroes program recognizes people ages 5 to 18 who have performed heroic deeds or displayed acts of selflessness and demonstrated good citizenship during the past year.
Nomination forms for Kids Are Heroes are available by calling (813) 870-KIDS (5437) or at www .stjosephschildrens.com. The nomination deadline is Oct. 29.
