Schools throughout the area paid tribute to Mother Nature on Earth Day, April 22.
Students demonstrated their love for Mother Earth by participating in a host of environmentally conscious projects aimed at beautifying, restoring and improving school campuses and the community.
From North Tampa to Temple Terrace to New Tampa, students, teachers and parent volunteers spent the half-day of school planting flowers and trees, removing weeds, collecting trash, trimming trees and bushes, spreading new sod and mulch, releasing butterflies, learning to bake using solar energy, creating learning tools and personal items from recycled materials, and conducting classroom projects.
Earth Day projects at Chiles and Mort elementaries and Greco Middle School are a sample of enviro-sensitive efforts across the region.
