LIVE OAK PRESERVE - The Live Oak Preserve Association has fired the company that manages its daily operations.
In a recent e-mail to residents, Land Arc officials said the company contract was being terminated effective Feb. 28.
"It has been our privilege to serve as the management company for the Live Oak Preserve Association for the past 18 months," the e-mail said.
"Although it is certainly our desire to continue in our management relationship with Live Oak, we are also conscious of the fact that disputing it would be a detrimental disruption to your association."
Land Arc is an Auburn Hills, Mich.-based company that specializes in managing associations as they transition from developer to homeowner control.
Engle Homes Vice President Rick Feather, who also serves as association president, confirmed last week that Land Arc is being replaced.
"We have decided to go our separate ways," Feather said.
The association board has contracted Green Acres Property to take over managing the association as of March 1.
Feather said he could not provide details on why the Land Arc contract was being terminated.
"At this point we have got lawyers involved," Feather said.
The association board plans to hold a meeting after Feb. 28 to explain its actions.
"Everything will be discussed," Feather said.
Land Arc accepted a three-year deal in summer 2007 to take over management for Live Oak and The Hammocks beginning Sept. 1, 2007.
There are now about 1,100 households in the community developed by Engle Homes, the South Florida-based home builder in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
