Escape From Stress In Lenten Mission

NEW TAMPA - St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church plans a three-night Lenten Mission to help relieve stress in people's lives.

The free event, Hide & Seek: Living and Loving With A Childlike Faith, will feature cartoonist, author and a lecturer Jim Kotecki from Madison, Wis. He is the creator of the comic strip "Kim and Jason" and author of "Escape Adulthood: 8 Secrets From Childhood for the Stressed Out."

Mary Ann Yaney, a member of the church's marketing committee, said the church wanted to offer the mission to the community "to help bring people closer to the church." Attendees at the mission, running Tuesday through March 5, don't have to belong to the church "or even be Catholic."

She said Kotecki came highly recommended and the church felt it was a good time to have the first-time event.

"People are so stressed out and need to be brought back to the center - and to know where they are supposed to go for help - to the one God," she said.

The Tuesday night program is for ages 5 and older and the Wednesday and March 5 programs are for ages 14 and older. Those ages 14 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
