TAMPA - The Rotary Club of New Tampa will host its first mARTinis Night with food, drinks and the arts.
The event, in cooperation with the ArtThread Foundation, will be at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
The gala gives guests a chance to create art using online software. The art will then be posted on an online gallery. The event also will include a martini bar, beer, wine, appetizers and dancing to the music of the band MoBetta. Art from the VSA arts of Florida will be featured in a silent auction.

Social Kicking Into High Gear
Now that the Gasparilla season is almost over, other groups are gearing up for the social events to raise money for various causes.
Those fundraisers include:
•The first Pink Tie Gala, sponsored by the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The black-tie event will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the T. Pepin Hospitality Centre, 4121 N. 50th St. Erica Riggins, a morning news anchor for Bay News 9, will be the mistress of ceremonies. Co-hosts are Melissa Johnson of Bast Floors & Staircases and retired baseball player Fred McGriff.
It will include a cocktail reception, live entertainment, dancing, dinner and an auction. Tickets are $175 each, or a sponsorship is $2,500 for a table for 10. For information, visit www.komensuncoast.org.
•Stepping Out Gala, sponsored by the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation.
Using the theme "Imagine," the Fab Four will play tribute to The Beatles at the black-tie event at 6:30 p.m. March 7 at the Hyatt Regency downtown, 211 N. Tampa St.
Daniel J. and Nilda Plasencia are the chairs for the event, where Tino and Marie Martinez will be honored. The St. Joseph Hospitals Distinguished Physicians of the Year also will be honored. They are Michael Wasylik, Earl Smith and Joseph Levine.

•Cattle Baron's Ball, benefiting the American Cancer Society.
The country-western dinner, dance and auction, with the theme "Wild Western Nights," will be 7 p.m. March 7 at the Port of Tampa Cruise Terminal 6, 1101 Channelside Drive.
USF President Judy Genshaft and her husband, Steve Greenbaum, are the honorary co-chairs. Jeanne Marget is the chairwoman.

•Casino Night and Cigar Smoker, sponsored by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America.
The event, open to the public, will be from 7 p.m. to midnight March 7 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1700 E. Ninth Ave. The casual event, with blackjack and other games, will feature food, cash bar, silent auction and door prizes. Tickets are $25 and available by calling (813) 878-6800.
Sanchez Featured In Piano Recital
TEMPLE TERRACE - The Florida College Life Enrichment Series will present Luis Sanchez in a solo piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Puckett Auditorium.
He will perform works by Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy and Liszt in the free public event. Florida College is at 119 N. Glen Arven Ave. For information, call (813) 899-6793.
Knights Sponsor Friday Fish Dinners
TEMPLE TERRACE - The Knights of Columbus will have a Lenten fish fry from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and March 6 in the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Parish Center, 9715 N. 56th St.

Talk Is About Bring-Back Motions
NORTH The Florida Alpha Parliamentarians Unit of Tampa will meet at 9:30 a.m. March 7 in the banquet room of University Community Hospital, 3100 E. Fletcher Ave.

Big Cat Rescue Topic Of Presentation
TAMPA PALMS - Demmy Mitchell, senior volunteer at Big Cat Rescue, will speak at Friday's 7 a.m. meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.
