Prayer Breakfast Features Teen Speaker, Women's Quartet

TEMPLE TERRACE - The 36th annual Temple Terrace Prayer Breakfast will feature teen speaker Ashleigh Weyard, with a spiritual message, and music by 9 to 5, a women's quartet.

The event, sponsored by the Temple Terrace Woman's Club and open to the public, will be Jan. 30 at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club, 200 Inverness Ave. Coffee service starts at 7 a.m. and the buffet is at 7:30.

Krewe Plans Saturday Social

CHANNEL DISTRICT - The Krewe of the Mustang Sallies and Ryders and Krewe of Brigadoon will co-host the third annual Dragon Party, a pre-Gasparilla, all-Krewe social, on Saturday.

The event will be from 7 to 11 p.m. at Banana Joe's in Channelside. The donation is $10, which will benefit Gulf Coast Legal Services. An appetizer buffet is included.

Garden Club Has Busy Season

The Temple Terrace Garden Club is gearing up for a busy time.

The club will meet at 9:30 a.m. today at the Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave., for a program on pruning. Then members will gather from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 21 for a project for the beautification of Woodmont Park.

The group's evening meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Woodmont Clubhouse and the program will focus on attracting hummingbirds and other birds to yards.

The group's annual Soup Supper is from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Woodmont Clubhouse.

USF Student To Perform At Founders Day Event

HYDE PARK - Stephen Foster/Jeanie Contest grand-prize winner Nicole Estima, a University of South Florida senior majoring in music, will perform when the Friday Morning Musicale hosts its annual Founder's Day Observance and Silver Scholarship Tea on Sunday.

The event is from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Musicale building, 809 Horatio St. The performance will start at 3.

Estima, who has been singing since she was 9, will perform works by Mozart, Donizetti, Rachmaninoff and others. She will be accompanied by Andrew Hoy.

President Joshua Sussman and his wife, Petra, will greet guests and past presidents will serve coffee and tea. Silver Tea hosts are Sybil Catala and Cora Hueting. Background music will be provided by Patricia Ockert and Elaine L. Stupp.

The event is open to the public and donations for scholarships will be accepted.

Orchid Society Meets Thursday

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Ed Bugbee, who owns Featherstone Orchids in Crystal River with his wife, Lyn, will speak at Thursday's meeting of the Tampa Bay Orchid Society.

The meeting is at Seminole Heights United Methodist Church, 6111 Central Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting is at 7. The event is free and open to the public. For information, call President Dory Gallagher at (813) 907-7025 or visit www.tampa bayorchidsociety.org.

CEO To Talk About Art, Community

TAMPA PALMS - Jay Klein, chief executive officer and founder of ArtThread Foundation, will speak at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.

Klein will talk about Using Art To Build Community at the 7 a.m. meeting at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
