Growing Orchids And Spring Market Are Club Topics

TEMPLE TERRACE - Members of the Temple Terrace Garden Club are busy preparing for their sixth annual Spring Market on April 18.

But they will take a break from their planning for a program by Al Latina about growing orchids. The meeting, open to members and guests, will be at 9:30 a.m. today at the Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave. It begins with a coffee time.

The market will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the clubhouse. Plants and items for the yard, home and self-improvement will be for sale.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a series of presentations focusing on growing orchids and roses, floral arranging, composting and mulching, and attracting butterflies.

Bake Sale Benefits Charity
TAMPA PALMS - The children of the Mayfair will have a bake sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to raise money for Share Our Strength.

The sale at Club Tampa Palms, 16402 Tampa Palms Blvd. W., is in conjunction with the community and Club Tampa Palms' annual garage sale. For information, call (813) 631-1144.
Chamber Luncheon Is March 18

NORTH TAMPA - The Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce will have its luncheon at 11:45 a.m. March 18 at the Clarion Hotel, 2701 E. Fowler Ave.

The fee is $ 15, and reservations are needed by noon Friday by calling (813) 989-7004.

The organization also will have its 20{+t}{+h} annual Business Expo from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the University of South Florida Sun Dome, 4202 E. Fowler Ave. Admission is $5 at the door.

USF Chapters Have Events

WESLEY CHAPEL - The Pasco County-New Tampa Chapter of the University of South Florida Alumni Association will have a St. Patrick's Day Social.

Guests are asked to wear USF green attire to the event at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Beef O'Brady's, 1660 Bruce B. Downs Blvd.

The Tampa Chapter will have a general meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at Lee Roy Selmon's, 4302 W. Boy Scout Blvd.

Celebrity Dancing Benefits The Spring

DOWNTOWN - Local celebrities will be featured in the Celebrity Dancing in Tampa Bay, a fundraiser for The Spring.

The event will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

Dancers include Stephanie Agliano, Allison Beard Luzier, Simon Canasi, Fran Curci, Judy Lisi, Aakash Patel, Angela Rasmussen, John Thomas, George Tinsley and Susan Touchton.

Awards Presented At Luncheon

WESTSHORE - The Future of the Region Awards luncheon, sponsored by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, will be at 11:45 a.m. March 20 at the Quorum Hotel, 700 N. West Shore Blvd.

Event Benefits Wheels Of Success

NORTH TAMPA - Wheels of Success, which provides cars to people in need, will have its Festival in the Skye at 6 p.m. Friday at Tampa Bay Downs, 11225 Race Track Road.

The event will include cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and entertainment by comedian Mark Klein.

TAMPA PALMS - Gil Thelan, former publisher of The Tampa Tribune, will speak at Friday's 7 a.m. meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa.

Thelan, a member of the club, will speak about "Why Are America's Newspapers Disappearing" at the meeting at Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
