Deputies: Man killed after crossing in front of bus

TAMPA - A 66-year-old man was killed this morning when he was struck by a HART bus while crossing Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, Hillsborough County deputies said.
Robert Lynn Lewis, address unknown, apparently didn't see the bus, which was not in service and had no passengers. The driver, Carl M. Darby, 61, couldn't stop in time, deputies said.
The accident happened about 6:20 a.m. in the 13000 block of Bruce B. Downs, near the James A. Haley VA Medical Center and the University of South Florida.
Darby was not at fault in the accident, which closed a stretch of northbound Bruce B. Downs for a few hours, deputies said.
