TEMPLE TERRACE - About the only thing missing will be elephants.
A circus theme is planned for the city's Halloween Fall Festival, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Center.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite costumes, be it a clown suit or a ringmaster outfit, and join in the carnival games, magic show, costume contest or an old-fashioned hayride.
The event also will provide the opportunity for kids to get spooked amid a haunted maze filled with ghosts and goblins, and for wannabe leading ladies and gents to show off their show business talents under the big top. Trick-or-treaters also can revel in the abundance of candy and other goodies available for the taking.
Admission to the event, hosted by the city's leisure services department, is $5 per child and free to adults who accompany children. Youngsters 12 months and younger also will be admitted free.
"I think that the Halloween Fall Festival is another example of what makes Temple Terrace a special place to live," said Councilwoman Alison Fernandez, the mother of four children. "The kids can show off their costumes and get candy while adults socialize. It is a great way to help busy families take some time and have fun with each other."
"It sounds like a lot of fun," said Amanda Pitcher, a Temple Terrace resident and mother of two young sons. "I know the kids would really enjoy it."
