Students snap up club scholarships

NEW TAMPA - The New Tampa Junior Woman's Club has named eight winners of the organization's 2009 scholarships award.
Taylor Cochran, Sara Dominic, Justin George, Michael Leonard, Karianne Rivera, Jasmine St. Clair and Tyler Tucker were all named winners of $500 scholarships awarded by the Junior Woman's Club to be used for college tuition.
Christopher Lockwood received two years of prepaid tuition from the New Tampa club.
The winners were selected from essays submitted by high school students. Club members read each essay and ranked them blindly based on quality and content, said Aleisha Linck, public relations vice president for the New Tampa Junior Woman's Club.
