NEW TAMPA - The staff at New Identities Hair Studio is head over heels about charity.
The salon, owned by Marc Rockquemore, has donated about 125 ponytails this year to support Locks of Love, a nonprofit, national organization that provides hairpieces to children 18 and younger living with long-term hair loss.
The latest hair-trimming event occurred recently at Westfield Brandon mall. New Identities stylists performed 41 haircuts for charity. They collected 83 ponytails at other events this year.
Participants received free haircuts and styling services.
Rockquemore, who serves as the chief executive officer, said his salon is a longtime supporter of Locks of Love, helping the organization with fundraising and donation events for many years.
Employees at Rockquemore's salons in Tampa Palms and Riverview participated in the charity event.
