USF Botanical Gardens hosts 2008 Orchid & Rose Fantasy Mother’s Day Weekend
Free plants for the first 100 mothers on Sunday
The USF Botanical Gardens is having its eighth Annual Orchid & Rose Fantasy event. Plant experts will be available both days to answer questions on growing plants.
Saturday offers a few select vendors selling orchid plants, the Garden will be selling unique orchids from the Orchid Collection and the Plant Shop will be selling rose bushes. A 10 a.m. workshop is devoted to orchids. At 11 a.m. there will be a rose workshop by Rose Society representative, Gretchen Warren. Members of the Tampa Orchid Club will be on hand to answer questions.
Sunday, Mother’s Day, features free orchid plants for the first 100 mothers (Sunday only) as well as Jazz in the Garden starting at 11 a.m. for a special Mother’s Day luncheon. A “Special Mom’s Package” for $15.00 includes lunch, a rose workshop at 11 a.m. by St. Petersburg Times garden writer, John Starnes, and a single rose. Box lunches must be ordered in advance ($10.00 box lunch only). Free parking is available across the street from the Gardens.
