The planned installation of 20 street corner cameras to help fight crime west of the University of South Florida has gotten a warm reception from business and apartment owners. About 20 people attended the first public meeting Wednesday at the University Area Community Center regarding the cameras, which should be operational in about 90 days. The cameras, owned by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, are part of a $1 million Byrne Grant awarded two years ago by the U.S. Department of Justice. ...more
