Regarding the article "County Balks At Maintaining New River Boat Launch Park;" quoting from the article: "Back in 2001 the county's boat ramp on the Kissimmee River at Bluff Hammock was removed as part of the Kissimmee River restoration." Yes, however the county in question is Okeechobee, as that is the true location. Cornwell Landing and Park (65C,) is also in Okeechobee, however Highlands County has been maintaining this one for many years. Few know where Highlands and Okeechobee County lines are drawn. Now a situation exists that was created by who? As the new proposed landing on the Istokpoga Canal is now truly in Highlands County. ...more
