In view of all the problems we have had with the Hillsborough elections' office, and the fact that Supervisor Phyllis Busansky was well on her way to straightening out the mess, doesn't it make sense for Gov. Charlie Crist to leave politics out of the temporary appointment? He should name Craig Latimer, her chief of staff, as interim supervisor until the 2010 election. He knows what is going on and will follow the direction Phyllis was headed until her death last week. ...more

Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Phyllis Busansky was found dead today in a St. Augustine hotel room, sheriff's officials in St. Johns County said. She was 72.
