The biggest changes will hit the College of Arts and Sciences, USF's largest. LAKE PLACID — Graduating seniors are finding that admission to a state university is getting tougher as budget cuts force the four-year colleges to reduce or limit enrollment. "We know of many students who had planned to or intended to go to one of the universities, who because of their [admission] restrictions, are coming here first," South Florida Community College President Norman L. Stephens Jr. said Monday. The University of South Florida will freeze its freshmen enrollment at this year's level – 3,700. The Tampa university plans to reduce class offerings and increase class sizes. AVON PARK –– Panther Field is a lot like Wrigley Field when the wind is blowing out –– you can expect a high-scoring game. The South Florida Community College baseball team took advantage of the windy conditions to pound out 21 base hits on its way to a 20-8 win over the Tampa University "B" team in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. The second game was rained out. "We play in a small yard and when the conditions were like they were, the ball has a chance to travel a long ways," said Panther coach Rick Hitt.
